GENERAL HOSPITAL, PERAK, MALAYSIA.

It was back in 1988. I was hospitalized for almost one year. A compound fracture with viral complications. It itself a story, but irrelevant here.
As usual, around 3.30 am, a nice, brave nurse, would toil the corridors, pushing a trolley to the get milks for babies. Usually it pass beside my window, to and fro. Anyway, was on the 5th floor.
As usual, I could not sleep. Those few nights, the trolley sounds unusual, too many to's and fro's. The first night I thought maybe there was a sudden surge of baby boom. It happened for a couple of nights when my fellow 'neighbour' brought it up to me.
"How can you sleep laa...so loudla the lady aaaalways pushing the trolley, bla,bla..".
As usual, I replied with an empty smile.
After 4 nights in a row, where at night the trolley sounds bugged me, in the morning, my 'neighbour' sounds bugged me, I could not take it anymore.
So, I look forward to solve the first problem.
Around 3.00 am. I was on my wheelchair, on the empty, spooky corridor overlooking a death plunge 5 storeys down.It was half moon, so the lights wasn't so friendly. Down the long corridor, I heard a TING! The elevator arrived. Must be the nurse. A blurred whitish uniform emerged from the corner, pushing the stainless steel trolley. As she came nearer, she looked at me. Staring at me rather. When I smiled, she replied, I think gladly. We knew each other well.Or maybe she was just simply glad it was me. Not 'something' else. Can't stop for a chat as babies are hungry. I just nodded in agreement.
So after about 15 minutes, she passed by saying good night. She did asked me to go to sleep. It's not good to stay up late AND hanging there at the corridor. "Yea..Yea..Yea"..Impolite? What can I say, I was in my prime and there I was. On a wheelchair for the pass 4 month.(The first 3 confined to bed, TOTALLY DUDE!) So, pardon me being so stuck up then!
I was enjoying the night skyline when I heard the trolley came back. The same blurred whitish uniform. The same steel trolley.
So I waited. But what irritated me most, was the staunch smell. Then it occurred to me, there WAS a difference. There's no TING! .
So, it came nearer. There's no face. Only a grim blackish hole.No hands too. Then it just vanished.I forgot to look at the legs.
Hair on the back of my neck, stood up. The irony is, I did not felt fear, but rather, sad. Very, very sad.

Watch horror movies lately? Yea..in totality most are sad stories.
